Product Description | CBA-843 is an acrylic latex-based adhesive, non-flammable, and specifically formulated for the installation of rubber or vinyl cove base. CBA-843 is suitable for installations on almost any clean, dry, and structurally sound wall surface and is water-resistant when cured. | Pre-Installation Checklist | A successful installation requires proper preparation of the substrate. Read and understand all applicable guidelines and technical data sheets before installation. Follow industry standards and the covering manufacturer's recommendations for substrate moisture content, design, layout, and application of covering materials. The backing of all covering material must be solid and sound, and free of any anti-adherents. All sub-constructions must meet the specific requirements of the wall covering to be installed. | Sub Floor Examination | Prior to installation, the substrates must be checked according to applicable installation guidelines. It must be solid and sound, flat, permanently dry, clean, free of chaps, indentations, and anti-adherents, and resistant to pressure and tension. | Moisture content in concrete subfloors must be below 12#/24hr/1000SF using the Calcium Chloride Test or less than 90% RH using the in-situ test per ASTM F1869 and F2170. If installing sheet goods, the limitations are 85% and 8#, respectively. | Sub Floor Preparation | Depending on the type and condition of the subfloor, a mechanical treatment (e.g. mechanical brushing, grinding, or sanding) may be required. The intensity of such work must be determined at the site by the installer. Dust, paint, residual adhesives, or other surface contaminants must be removed by suitable means. Cleaning the surface with an industrial vacuum cleaner is recommended. Cracks and gaps must be filled with concrete crack filler unless they are expansion joints. Level when necessary to 3/16 inches within 10 feet. Heated subfloors, gypcrete, wooden subfloors, levelers, patches, and lightweight concrete must be primed. Fast curing cementitious leveling or patching compounds might reduce the flash and work time of water-based products due to absorption. | Installation Procedure | Apply adhesive directly to the base or wall. Stay 1/8? away from the top of the base to prevent oozing. After placing the base roll with a hand roller. Continue in like manner until all base has been placed. Roll toward the previously installed section to ensure a tight fit. | Storage | Store and transport protected from freezing. Recommended minimum temperatures are 35°F for transport and 40°F for storage. Do not stir the product if frozen, allow it to thaw completely. | Limitations | When using other than STAUF products in conjunction with STAUF primers, sealers, leveling compounds, or adhesives, STAUF denies any and all responsibility for any ensuing problems and/or damages without prior written authorization from STAUF. | In case of an accident, injury, spill, or exposure, see SDS for information. Consult the Technical Data Sheet at www.staufusa.com for updated information. | This adhesive will maintain its integrity and performance even when higher levels of moisture are present. While adhesive can withstand up to 12#/24hr/1000SF (Calcium Chloride Test) and 90% RH (in-situ probe) of moisture, it does not qualify as a moisture inhibitor. Please see below for recommended sealers if a moisture barrier is required. Not suitable for areas with excessive topical moisture (i.e. melting snow, repeated flooding, pressure washing) or extreme horizontal shear forces; use R-Series adhesives under these circumstances. If sheet goods are installed, the limitations are 85% and 8#. | The foregoing representations are based on the results of our most current product and material testing within a controlled environment and are of a non-obligatory advisory nature only.
